Hundred, WV (June 29, 2025) — A tragic head-on collision on Route 7 just outside Hundred claimed the lives of two people Wednesday afternoon and left two others injured, according to local authorities.
According to reports, emergency crews were dispatched at 1:53 p.m. on June 26 to the Mountaineer Highway near Dump Hill, in the direction of New Martinsville. Investigators said one vehicle crossed the center line for unknown reasons and struck another vehicle head-on, causing extensive damage to both vehicles.
The driver of the vehicle that crossed over died at the scene, while a passenger in the second vehicle succumbed to injuries while being transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital. The driver and another passenger in the second vehicle were also taken to the hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
Hundred EMS, Hundred Volunteer Fire Department, New Freeport (Pa.) Fire Department, Wileyville Fire Department, Marshall County EMS, and Marion County Rescue responded alongside the Wetzel County Sheriff’s Office and West Virginia State Police. Route 7 was closed for several hours as crews cleared the scene and conducted an initial investigation. A full accident reconstruction was deemed unnecessary as the cause was determined on-site. The Wetzel County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
