Terrell, TX (July 3, 2025) — Heartbreak has gripped a Fort Worth family after four of their loved ones were killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 near Terrell on June 28.
According to reports, Shaun and Zabar McKellar, their 15-year-old son Kason, and 79-year-old grandfather Billy McKellar all lost their lives when a semi-truck slammed into several vehicles on the busy Texas interstate. The crash also claimed the life of 49-year-old Nicole Gregory of Dallas, who was driving another vehicle involved in the pileup.
Officials say the McKellar family had been traveling together in a Ford F-150 when the semi-truck, driven by 27-year-old Alexis Osmani Gonzalez-Companioni, crashed into the back of their vehicle. The sole survivor from the family, 20-year-old Evan McKellar, was critically injured and remains in the ICU at Parkland Hospital.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says the tragic incident unfolded when Gonzalez-Companioni allegedly fell asleep at the wheel before plowing into two 18-wheelers and three passenger vehicles, creating what first responders described as a “mass casualty” event. The driver now faces five counts of manslaughter and an additional charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and remains in custody at the Kaufman County Jail.
