Chicago, IL (July 5, 2025) — A man lost his life early Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Chicago’s Northwest Side, according to local police.
According to reports, the deadly collision occurred around 2:10 a.m. on July 5 near the intersection of Belmont Avenue and Cumberland Avenue. Police said a white vehicle driven by a man believed to be between 40 and 49 years old was traveling westbound on Belmont Avenue when he failed to obey a traffic signal and struck a blue SUV that was heading south on Cumberland Avenue.
Emergency crews transported the driver of the white vehicle to Loyola Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the blue SUV did not sustain any injuries and declined medical treatment at the scene.
Area Five detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Officials have not yet released the identity of the deceased pending notification of family.
