Phoenix, AZ (July 5, 2025) — A woman has died and two others were hospitalized after a collision involving a Valley Metro bus and a passenger vehicle in Phoenix Wednesday morning, local authorities confirmed.
According to reports, officers with the Phoenix Police Department responded to the crash around 9:45 a.m. on July 3 at the intersection of 35th Avenue and Thomas Road. Investigators say a vehicle was traveling westbound on Thomas Road when it struck the rear of a Valley Metro bus that was stopped at a bus stop just west of 35th Avenue.
Police identified the passenger of the vehicle as 29-year-old Emily Analla. She was found at the scene with critical injuries, transported to a local hospital, and later died as a result of her injuries. A woman who was riding on the bus was also hospitalized with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as 23-year-old Xavier Manuel, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Police say Manuel showed signs of impairment. He was arrested after being treated and has been booked on manslaughter charges.
