Wakulla County, FL (July 7, 2025) – A devastating collision took the lives of two people Friday evening in Wakulla County. Florida Highway Patrol troopers responded to the scene after receiving reports of a serious accident involving a car and a truck hauling a boat.
According to reports, the crash happened around 6:18 p.m. on July 4 when a vehicle traveling on Port Leon Drive reportedly failed to yield the right of way and was struck by a truck on Coastal Highway. The impact was severe enough that the 15-year-old passenger in the Toyota Prius died at the scene, while the 50-year-old driver was rushed to a nearby hospital but later succumbed to her injuries. Both victims were residents of Crawfordville.
The Ford pickup truck carrying four occupants and towing a boat did not report any injuries among its passengers. The stretch of Coastal Highway near Woodville Highway was closed for several hours while crews cleared debris and investigators reconstructed the crash.
Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident to determine the exact cause of the tragic collision.
