Bossier Parish, LA (July 7, 2025) — A tragic collision over the holiday weekend left a motorcyclist dead and a driver facing possible impairment charges following a multi-vehicle crash on Airline Drive.
According to reports, the Louisiana State Police responded to the scene around 5:30 p.m. on July 5 near North Willow Drive. Investigators say Scarlett Jackson, 24, of Mansfield, was driving a Nissan Altima southbound in the left lane of Airline Drive when she attempted to make a right turn into a private driveway. Her vehicle struck a Kawasaki motorcycle traveling in the right lane, operated by Byron Smith, 41, of Shreveport. The Altima also collided with another vehicle that was exiting the driveway at the time.
Byron Smith suffered fatal injuries at the scene. Jackson was taken into custody under suspicion of impairment as troopers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
