Thurman, NY (July 8, 2025) — A local man lost his life following a collision involving a pickup truck and an ATV Sunday evening on River Road in Thurman.
According to reports, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene around 6:15 p.m. on July 6. Investigators say a 76-year-old man from South Carolina was driving a 2013 Ford F-250, exiting Glen Hudson Campsites and turning south onto River Road when the crash happened.
As the pickup truck turned, a Suzuki King Quad 750 operated by 57-year-old David Mahler of Warrensburg struck the rear driver’s side fender of the truck. Deputies reported that Mahler was not wearing a helmet at the time of the wreck. He was initially treated by Warrensburg EMS at the scene and then airlifted by LifeNet to Albany Medical Center. Unfortunately, Mahler succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office’s Traffic Safety Unit continues to investigate the events leading up to this fatal incident.
