The incident unfolded just after 5 a.m. on July 8 along Route 1 south near the Ridge Avenue – Kelly Drive Exit.
According to reports, the woman was for reasons yet unknown walking in the center of the southbound lanes of Roosevelt Boulevard. A Honda Pilot traveling in the inner southbound lanes attempted to swerve but ultimately hit her, sending her into the outer southbound lane. A Dodge Charger managed to stop in time, but a Toyota Highlander was unable to avoid contact, causing all three vehicles to strike the woman.
Emergency responders transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where she remains in critical condition. All three drivers involved stayed at the scene and are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation led by the Philadelphia Police Crash Investigation Division.
