Jefferson County, MO (July 13, 2025) — Multiple people were hurt Saturday evening in a chain-reaction crash that shut down a stretch of Interstate 55 south of Route M in Jefferson County. The collision took place around 7:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes and involved three vehicles, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
According to reports, a 2024 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by a 29-year-old man from Pacific struck the rear of a 2013 Dodge Dart occupied by multiple people. The impact forced the Dodge Dart off the left side of the highway and into the center cable barrier before overturning onto its roof. Debris from the Dart hit a 2016 Kia Sorento traveling southbound, causing minor damage.
The crash left the 43-year-old woman driving the Dart with moderate injuries. A 13-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man, both passengers in the Dart, suffered minor injuries. The driver of the Dodge Ram also sustained minor injuries. All four victims were transported by Rock Township Ambulance District to Mercy Hospital South for treatment. The driver of the Kia Sorento, a 66-year-old man from Farmington, was able to drive away from the scene and did not report injuries.
Troopers, emergency crews, and Miners Towing worked to clear the wreckage, which caused significant delays along the busy interstate as investigators worked to determine the cause of the crash.
