Currituck County, NC (July 16, 2025) — A serious collision left one driver with significant injuries Tuesday morning following a two-vehicle accident at a busy Currituck County intersection.
According to reports, the North Carolina Highway Patrol responded just before 9 a.m. on July 15 to the intersection of North Carolina Highway 168 and North Carolina Highway 34. Troopers say Donald Wood, 45, of Norfolk, Virginia, was heading southbound on North Carolina Highway 168 when he failed to stop for a red light, crashing into a tractor trailer attempting a left turn onto North Carolina Highway 168 from North Carolina Highway 34.
Wood suffered serious injuries in the crash and was flown to Norfolk General Hospital in Virginia for further treatment. Authorities confirmed the driver of the tractor trailer was not hurt. Wood now faces charges for failing to stop at a red light and not wearing a seatbelt.
