Brook Park, OH (July 17, 2025) – A semitractor-trailer hauling 88 tons of trash slammed into the median of Interstate 480 late Wednesday morning, causing significant delays and scattering debris across both directions of traffic.
According to reports, the crash happened around 11:00 a.m. on July 16 in the westbound lanes near the West 150th Street exit. The impact destroyed a portion of the highway median, and the truck’s massive load of garbage spilled into several lanes, forcing emergency response teams to block off traffic while cleanup operations began.
Two of the four westbound lanes were closed by noon, causing backups stretching to the Tiedeman Road exit and delays exceeding one hour. Eastbound traffic also faced disruptions, with two lanes shut down and delays nearing 30 minutes.
The truck driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Cleanup efforts continued into the afternoon, and police stated that full roadway restoration would take several hours. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
