El Paso, NM (July 20, 2025) – A tragic hit-and-run involving a pedestrian and an SUV claimed the life of an elderly woman Saturday morning in south-central El Paso.

According to reports, police responded to the scene around 9:22 a.m. on July 19 after receiving reports of a crash at the intersection of Alameda Avenue and Gibraltar Avenue. Investigators determined that a light-colored SUV was traveling westbound on the 6800 block of Alameda Avenue when it struck a woman crossing northbound on foot.

The driver did not stop and continued heading west, leaving the scene. Emergency personnel arrived shortly after the collision, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of her injuries.

Authorities are still working to identify the driver and are urging anyone with information to contact local law enforcement.
