Aurora, CO (July 21, 2025) – A young boy is in critical condition after being struck by a car while riding his scooter through a crosswalk Friday morning in Aurora.
According to reports, the incident occurred just after 10:00 a.m. on July 19 near East Iliff Avenue and South Wheel Park Circle. Authorities say the 12-year-old had activated the pedestrian crossing signal and was using a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a 19-year-old driver who failed to stop for the signal.
Aurora Police confirmed that the driver was inattentive at the time of the crash. The child was transported with life-threatening injuries and continues to fight for his life at an area hospital.
Traffic investigators remain on scene conducting a full reconstruction of the accident, and charges against the driver are expected to be filed.
