Gainesville, FL (July 24, 2025) – A local motorcyclist was killed early Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle collision on State Road 24 in Alachua County, prompting an emergency response and road closure near a busy medical center.
According to reports, the crash happened just before 7:00 a.m. on July 23 on Southwest Archer Road (SR 24) near Southwest 48th Drive — the entrance to the Plaza Health and Rehab Center. A 72-year-old Gainesville man was attempting to turn left into the business from the eastbound lanes when his black sedan collided with a westbound motorcycle.
The motorcycle struck the right front side of the sedan during the turn. The 33-year-old male motorcyclist, also from Gainesville, was pronounced dead at the scene. The sedan driver sustained minor injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol and Alachua County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash. Westbound traffic was diverted while authorities conducted their on-scene investigation.
