Swatara Township, PA (July 25, 2025) – A motorcyclist was killed early Wednesday morning in a violent crash with a trash truck on Route 322 in Dauphin County, according to Swatara Township police.
According to reports, the crash occurred around 4:45 a.m. on July 23 at the intersection of Route 322 east and Witmer Drive. Authorities say 37-year-old Noel Soto, of Derry Township, was operating a Honda motorcycle when he ran a red light and collided with the driver’s side of a Penn Waste trash truck, which had a green light at the time of impact.
Soto sustained multiple traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck’s driver was seriously hurt and had to be extricated from the vehicle before being transported to a nearby hospital. His current condition has not been released.
That section of Route 322 has been undergoing construction for several months, with altered traffic patterns and redesigned intersections possibly contributing to confusion in the area.
