Cactus City, CA (July 25, 2025) – Two people were killed in a fiery crash Thursday morning when a pickup truck overturned and ignited on Interstate 10 near the Cactus City Rest Area, according to the California Highway Patrol.
According to reports, the crash occurred around 9:58 a.m. on July 25 as a 2002 Ford pickup truck was traveling eastbound in the #2 lane. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle overturned onto the right shoulder and was soon engulfed in flames. Both individuals inside the truck were pronounced dead at the scene.
The intense fire and crash prompted the closure of the #2 and #3 lanes on eastbound I-10 while authorities investigated. By 4:40 p.m., all lanes were reopened.
No further identifying information about the victims has been released as the investigation continues.
