Ripley, NY (July 27, 2025) – A fiery crash involving two tractor trailers shut down a portion of Interstate 90 early Sunday morning near the Pennsylvania/New York border, prompting a large-scale emergency response.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 6:00 a.m. on July 27 when two semi-trucks collided at the PA/NY state line, with one of the vehicles becoming fully engulfed in flames. The North East Fire Department (NEFD) was dispatched for mutual aid to assist Ripley Fire Department and other New York agencies in controlling the blaze and securing the scene.
Responding NEFD units included Engine 202, Engine 212, and Brush 216. Crews worked collaboratively to extinguish the fire and manage roadway hazards. The interstate was temporarily closed at the Pennsylvania border as fire police helped redirect traffic and maintain safety in the active fire zone.
No injuries or fatalities have been officially reported at this time. The cause of the collision remains under investigation by New York State Police.
