Tacoma, WA (July 28, 2025) — A tragic accident occurred Sunday afternoon when a person died after falling from an overpass and being struck by a car on Interstate 5 in Tacoma.
According to reports, the incident happened near the Pacific Avenue overpass above I-5 on July 27. Washington State Patrol says a driver was traveling on the interstate when a person fell from the overpass and landed in the roadway. The vehicle was unable to avoid the individual and fatally struck them.
The driver immediately stopped and remained at the scene following the collision. Authorities closed off a portion of the roadway for approximately 90 minutes to conduct their investigation and clear the scene.
Washington State Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances leading to the fall and the subsequent collision. No other injuries were reported.
