Fresno County, CA (August 2, 2025) – A devastating workplace accident at a quarry in Fresno County claimed the life of a Los Banos father of four on Tuesday morning after the excavator he was operating overturned and pinned him against a boulder.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 8 a.m. on July 29 at the Academy Quarry, located on Tollhouse Road. Emergency responders arrived to find the man trapped inside the cab of the excavator, which had overturned while loading rock into a dump truck.

Authorities confirmed that the cab of the excavator landed directly against a large rock, pinning the operator inside. Despite the efforts of firefighters who worked to free him, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene. He has been publicly identified as a father of four from Los Banos.

The California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal/OSHA) has opened an investigation into the cause of the fatal equipment accident.
