Martin County, TX (August 3, 2025) — A deadly early morning crash claimed the life of a 25-year-old man Saturday in Martin County after his vehicle collided with a trailer along State Highway 349.
According to reports, the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the crash scene at approximately 4:20 a.m. on August 2 near mile marker 300. Aaron Contreras, of Lamesa, Texas, was driving northbound when his vehicle failed to reduce speed and struck the rear trailer of another northbound vehicle.
Contreras was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle involved was not injured, and authorities noted that weather conditions were clear during the time of the incident.
