San Antonio, TX (August 3, 2025) — A devastating crash on the West Side of San Antonio claimed the life of a young motorcyclist Thursday afternoon. Authorities have identified the victim as 23-year-old Ian Garcia, according to the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office.

According to reports, the deadly collision happened just before noon on July 31 at the intersection of Galm Road and Shoreline Drive, near Culebra Road. Officials said an SUV was traveling southbound on Galm Road and attempted to turn left toward Culebra Road. At that moment, Garcia was heading northbound on his motorcycle and struck the front of the SUV during the turn.

The impact ejected Garcia from the motorcycle, sending him over a nearby fence and into a neighbor’s backyard along Galm Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both the driver and passenger in the SUV were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Investigators noted that speed may have played a role in the crash.
