Coryell County, TX (August 4, 2025) — A deadly head-on crash claimed the life of a Waco man late Thursday night along Highway 84, just east of Gatesville in Coryell County.
News sources show that the accident occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. on July 31. The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that a 2021 Kia Stinger, driven by 21-year-old Jeffrey Lynn Nevarez Jr., was traveling eastbound when it veered into the westbound lane. The vehicle collided head-on with a truck hauling a livestock trailer.
Tragically, Nevarez was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. No additional injuries were reported in the crash, including to the driver of the truck or any individuals or animals inside the trailer.
Authorities have not yet released further details, and an investigation by the Texas DPS is ongoing.
