Fatal Car Accident in Glassboro, NJ — Crash on Rt 322 Near Campus Crossings (August 3, 2025)

Glassboro, NJ (August 5, 2025) – A serious crash late Sunday night in Glassboro claimed the life of one driver and left two others injured after a vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a utility pole.

According to reports, the accident happened around 11:10 p.m. on August 3 along Mullica Hill Road (Route 322), near the Campus Crossings apartments. Police say a white 2008 Mazda coupe, driven by 27-year-old John Bessel of Wilmington, Delaware, was headed east when it veered over the center line and collided with a westbound 2005 Toyota.

Following the collision, the Mazda spun and crashed into a utility pole, knocking out power to nearby residents. Bessel was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Mazda and the driver of the Toyota were taken to the hospital with injuries.

Authorities believe Bessel temporarily lost consciousness due to suspected narcotic use and awoke while already driving on the wrong side of the road. The investigation remains active, and police are asking anyone with video or information to come forward.
