Colorado Springs, CO (October 25, 2024) – The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has identified a motorcyclist who tragically lost his life in a crash earlier this month. The incident took place on Saturday, October 5, at the intersection of U.S. 24 Frontage Road and West Cimarron Street, close to America the Beautiful Park.
Authorities confirmed that the victim was 26-year-old Elijah Stephens. CSPD reported that officers were called to the scene at approximately 8:45 p.m., where they found a collision involving a motorcycle and a car. Stephens was transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The police department’s Major Crash Team investigated and determined that the car was heading west and attempting to make a left turn onto Highway 24 Frontage Road. During the turn, the motorcycle, traveling eastbound on Cimarron at high speeds, struck the car’s right front corner, ejecting Stephens from his motorcycle.
Investigators are considering speed and alcohol as potential factors in the accident. Stephens was formally identified by the coroner on Monday, October 7.
