Ventura County, CA (August 6, 2025) — A head-on crash east of Fillmore Sunday evening claimed one life and left another person seriously injured, according to authorities.
According to reports, the collision occurred at approximately 7:47 p.m. on August 3 along Highway 126. The California Highway Patrol stated that a vehicle traveling westbound veered into the eastbound lane, where it collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.
Following the impact, one of the vehicles careened off the highway and down an embankment, coming to rest on the southbound side.
Emergency responders arrived to find the driver of the eastbound vehicle deceased at the scene. Their identity has not yet been publicly released. The westbound driver was transported to a nearby hospital with major injuries.
Several lanes of Highway 126 were temporarily closed to allow for investigation and cleanup. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
