According to reports, the incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. on August 7 at an assisted living facility near Orange Grove Road and Oracle Road. Authorities said 40-year-old Javier Palafox had been hired to remove dead palm fronds when a large portion of the tree unexpectedly broke loose, striking him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
