According to reports, the collision involved a Subaru crossover and a Nissan pickup truck. The driver of the pickup was transported to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead. Police identified the Subaru driver as 33-year-old Philip Webb of Oceanside, who was arrested on suspicion of DUI causing injury or death and vehicular manslaughter. Webb is expected to be booked into the Vista Detention Facility. The Carlsbad Police Department continues to investigate the crash.
