Pomona, CA (August 11, 2025) – A tragic early morning accident claimed the life of a driver on the eastbound 60 Freeway near the Gary Avenue off-ramp.
According to reports, the incident occurred shortly before 2:30 a.m. when a white Lexus sedan traveling eastbound was struck by a tire that had come off a truck heading westbound. The tire reportedly crossed over the median and smashed through the sedan’s windshield, causing severe damage and a partial roof collapse. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency crews.
Authorities closed all eastbound lanes by 2:40 a.m., issuing a SigAlert at 3:15 a.m. By 4 a.m., all lanes except for the slow lane had reopened. The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the truck’s mechanical failure. The victim’s identity has not been released.
