Wichita, KS (August 12, 2025) – Two drivers were injured Monday afternoon in a hit-and-run crash involving three vehicles on K-96 in Sedgwick County. The collision occurred at approximately 3:53 p.m. on August 11 near mile marker 290.3, about 0.4 miles east of Hydraulic Avenue.
According to reports, all vehicles were traveling westbound in the same lane when a 2014 Toyota Highlander, driven by 30-year-old Kelly Marie Tate of Belle Plaine, struck the rear of a white truck. A 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser, driven by 20-year-old Kayla McKinney Henderson of Douglass, was unable to stop in time and hit the back of the truck as well. The truck driver fled the scene before authorities arrived.
Both Tate and Henderson sustained suspected minor injuries and were transported to Wesley Medical Center for treatment. Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating and searching for the hit-and-run driver.
