Lubbock, TX (August 12, 2025) – A Sunday afternoon crash in Central Lubbock claimed the life of a local man and left two others injured. The collision occurred at approximately 3:22 p.m. on August 10 at the intersection of 58th Street and Quaker Avenue.
According to reports, 55-year-old Mark Edens was driving an SUV northbound in the 5800 block of Quaker Avenue when he attempted to turn southbound. His vehicle collided with a westbound passenger car driven by 71-year-old Stephen Clark in the 4300 block of 58th Street. The impact caused the SUV to roll over, ejecting Edens, who was not wearing a seatbelt.
Edens was transported to University Medical Center, where he later died. His passenger, 58-year-old Xinchun Un, and Clark both sustained minor injuries but were not hospitalized. The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit continues to investigate.
