Palo Alto, CA (August 13, 2025) – Tragedy unfolded early Sunday when a woman lost her life and a man was taken into custody for driving under the influence following a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 101 near Palo Alto.
News sources show that the crash occurred at approximately 2 a.m. on August 11, in the northbound lanes of Highway 101, just south of University Avenue. The California Highway Patrol reported that the driver of a white Acura SUV rear-ended a gray Toyota RAV4, leaving both vehicles disabled in the roadway.
Moments later, a white Subaru SUV driven by a female motorist slammed into the Toyota before crashing into the concrete median. A gray BMW sedan, operated by a male driver, then collided with one of the wrecked vehicles.
The woman driving the Subaru sustained fatal injuries. Authorities arrested the driver of the Acura on suspicion of DUI.
