Kirkland, WA (August 13, 2025) – A Washington State Patrol sergeant was among those injured Tuesday in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 405 near Northeast 70th Street.
According to reports, the collision happened on August 12 in the northbound lanes when a black vehicle caused a chain-reaction crash involving a white car and the patrol sergeant’s vehicle. Trooper Rick Johnson of WSP said the white car’s driver may have suffered broken bones and was transported for medical treatment.
The sergeant, whose name has not been released, is expected to recover but sustained soreness from the impact. Authorities do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role; instead, distraction by one driver is believed to have been the main contributing factor.
