Hesperia, CA (Aug. 13, 2025) – A beloved local street vendor known for selling roasted corn was critically injured Tuesday night in a golf cart crash on I Avenue, prompting a temporary road closure for investigation.
According to reports, the incident occurred at about 8:12 p.m. on August 12 between Danbury and Bangor Avenues. Authorities said the green golf cart was traveling northbound when it lost control and rolled multiple times, scattering corn, mayonnaise, and other food supplies across the roadway.
Emergency crews initially called for a medical helicopter, but the airlift was later canceled. The unconscious man was transported by ground ambulance to St. Mary’s Hospital. Community members identified the victim as a familiar “elote man” often seen selling near Kingston Elementary School.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department confirmed it was a single-vehicle crash. The cause remains under investigation.
