Phelps, NY (August 14, 2025) – A tractor-trailer driver died in a single-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning along the New York State Thruway in Ontario County.
According to reports, the fatal incident occurred just after 7:40 a.m. on August 13 in the westbound lanes of Interstate 90 near Phelps. New York State Police say the semi-truck veered off the roadway and traveled along the guardrail on the right shoulder before rolling onto its side.
The driver, identified only as a 40-year-old man, was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed that the trailer remained attached to the cab and was carrying miscellaneous non-hazardous items at the time of the crash.
Investigators have not yet determined what caused the vehicle to drift off the roadway. The investigation remains active.
