Monrovia, CA (August 15, 2025) — A person fleeing from federal immigration agents was fatally struck by a vehicle Thursday morning on the 210 Freeway near Monrovia, officials confirmed.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 9:50 a.m. on August 15 along the eastbound lanes of the 210 Freeway, just east of Myrtle Avenue. The California Highway Patrol said the pedestrian was hit by an SUV in a high-traffic area of the freeway.

City Manager Dylan Feik reported that the individual had fled on foot from an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid that took place at a nearby Home Depot. The pedestrian entered the freeway during the escape and was struck by the oncoming vehicle.

Emergency responders transported the individual to a local hospital, where they were later pronounced dead. All vehicles involved remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, according to CHP Officer Larsen.

The incident triggered a SigAlert for the HOV and No. 1 lanes of the freeway, though lanes were reopened shortly after 11:00 a.m. The Department of Homeland Security has not yet issued a statement.
