Fairfield, CA (August 16, 2025) — A serious crash involving two vehicles on State Route 12 west of the State Route 113 intersection led to one fatality and major traffic delays Friday evening in Fairfield.
According to reports, the collision occurred around 5:04 p.m. on August 15 and involved a silver sedan and a black sedan. The silver sedan overturned into a ditch along the right-hand shoulder, while the black sedan remained in the roadway, blocking the eastbound lane.
Emergency services responded quickly, and at least two tow trucks were requested due to the severity of the wreck. The California Highway Patrol later confirmed that one person was killed in the accident, and the coroner was dispatched to the scene around 5:59 p.m.
A SigAlert was issued, closing eastbound lanes of SR-12 while one-way traffic control was implemented. All lanes were reopened just before 8:30 p.m. An investigation remains underway to determine the cause of the crash.
