Ector County, TX (August 17, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash in Ector County left two people dead and four others injured Friday night, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
According to reports, the fatal collision happened at about 9:45 p.m. on August 15 at the intersection of West University Boulevard and Knox Road.
Investigators said a 2019 Chevrolet 2500 driven by 61-year-old Juan Manuel Nunez-Quiroz of Odessa was traveling southbound on Knox Avenue when it failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by a 2012 GMC Yukon.
Nunez-Quiroz died at the scene. The Yukon’s passenger, 32-year-old Tyson Cooper Avery, was also pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 34-year-old Rachel Avery of Odessa, sustained minor injuries. Three children inside the Yukon, girls ages 3 and 12, were taken to Medical Center Hospital with minor injuries.
The Texas DPS continues to investigate.
