AUSTIN, TX (November 19, 2025) – A young man died after a downtown Austin scooter crash over the weekend, according to local authorities.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the fatal incident occurred at approximately 1:29 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the intersection of West 5th Street and Rio Grande Street. Police say 22-year-old Alexander William Gonzalo was riding a scooter when he was struck by a vehicle at the intersection.
Gonzalo was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. Despite efforts to save him, he passed away on Sunday, November 16.
The driver involved remained at the scene, was not under the influence, and is cooperating fully with the investigation.
