Anchorage, AK (June 21, 2025) — A man riding a bicycle was struck and killed by an SUV Thursday night in South Anchorage, leading to multiple charges against the driver involved.
According to reports, police responded just before 9:15 p.m. on June 20 to the 6300 block of C Street, just south of West Dowling Road. Witnesses had called in reports of an SUV driving erratically before veering off-road and hitting the cyclist, who was traveling along the paved shoulder. The bicyclist died at the scene. His identity has not yet been released pending family notification.
The driver, identified as 40-year-old Stephanie Dill, was arrested and charged with manslaughter, DUI, reckless driving, bribery, and refusal to submit to a chemical test. Court documents revealed Dill attempted to bribe the arresting officer with $1,000 during transport to jail. Police later obtained a blood sample; a breath test conducted five hours post-crash showed a blood alcohol level of 0.178.
Dill is currently being held at Hiland Mountain Correctional Center. Her arraignment was scheduled for Friday.
