Whitehouse, TX (August 3, 2025) — A teenage bicyclist was injured Tuesday evening in a hit-and-run crash near Lake Tyler, and the driver responsible was later arrested after fleeing the scene, according to law enforcement officials.
According to reports, the accident occurred around 6:33 p.m. on July 30 at the intersection of County Road 211 and Dickson Road in Whitehouse. Responding officers located a teenager with visible red lacerations on both knees and an injured right wrist after he was struck from behind while riding his bicycle.
The driver of the vehicle did not stop and fled the scene heading west on County Road 2133. A short time later, a Smith County deputy apprehended the suspect near the Tyler city limits on State Highway 110 South.
The driver, identified as Jake Landry Acker, admitted to striking the cyclist and leaving the scene, telling police he failed to stop because he was “scared.” Acker was arrested and booked into the Smith County Jail.
