Joplin, MO (August 12, 2025) – A tragic incident late Saturday night claimed the life of a bicyclist in Jasper County. The fatal crash occurred at approximately 9:54 p.m. on August 9 along Route 66, about 1.5 miles west of Joplin.
News sources show that a 20-year-old woman from Galena was driving a 2010 Honda Accord westbound when her vehicle struck a bicyclist traveling in the same direction. The 63-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Jasper County Coroner Scott Keatts just before 10 p.m. He was later transported to the Jasper County Coroner’s Office in Carthage.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported this as Troop D’s 75th fatality of the year. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
