Grand Island, NY (July 28, 2025) — Search and recovery efforts are still underway for two missing boaters following a high-speed crash on the Niagara River late Wednesday night. The boat capsized after striking a concrete structure near the north Grand Island Bridge.
According to reports, Jerome Williams, 66, of Buffalo, and Natalie Sansivero, 46, of Grand Island were aboard a vessel that collided with a concrete pillar around 9:40 p.m. on July 24. The crash occurred west of the north Grand Island Bridge and north of Navy Island. Authorities said the boat was traveling at over 50 miles per hour at the time of impact.
Williams, a well-known businessman in the Niagara Falls area, was reportedly following another boat piloted by a family member when the crash occurred. Both he and Sansivero have been missing since the incident. Their boat was recovered, heavily damaged, by State Park Police, who are leading the accident reconstruction.
The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation is now handling the missing persons case, with search efforts resuming Thursday after being suspended at 3 a.m. due to visibility concerns.
