Martin County, FL (October 4, 2025) – A serious two-vehicle crash caused by a hydroplaning box truck left three people hospitalized and shut down all southbound lanes of Interstate 95 near Hobe Sound on Friday morning.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident took place around 7:25 a.m. on October 3, near the 96-mile marker. A 2023 Chevrolet box truck was traveling northbound when it hydroplaned on the rain-slick roadway, lost control, and crossed the center median into oncoming traffic.
The box truck then collided with a 2014 Nissan Altima in the southbound lanes, causing the truck to overturn and come to rest across multiple lanes. The Altima was left disabled in the middle lane.
The 32-year-old truck driver from North Lauderdale suffered critical injuries and was rushed to a local hospital. The driver of the Altima, a 28-year-old woman from Stuart, and her 57-year-old passenger from Palm City were also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
FHP continues to investigate the crash.
