Michigan City, IN. (November 9, 2025) – A local man has died following a motorcycle crash that occurred late Monday afternoon at a busy intersection in Michigan City.
According to the Indiana State Police, the fatal crash happened around 4:30 p.m. on November 3 at the intersection of East William Street and Pine Street. Authorities say 34-year-old Brandon Summerlin was riding his motorcycle southbound on Pine Street when a vehicle attempted to turn onto Pine from William Street, cutting in front of him.
In an attempt to avoid a collision, Summerlin reportedly braked hard, which caused him to be thrown from the motorcycle and fall onto the roadway. Police confirmed that he was not struck by the other vehicle but sustained serious injuries in the fall.
Summerlin, who was not wearing a helmet or protective gear, was airlifted to the hospital, where he later died. The other driver was taken to a local facility for a chemical test, as required under Indiana law following serious or fatal crashes. Test results are pending.
