Broadway, NC (January 9, 2025) – Two drivers lost their lives in a tragic head-on collision that closed both directions of U.S. Highway 421 in Harnett County on Thursday morning, according to the State Highway Patrol (SHP).

The crash was reported just before 11:30 a.m. near Mount Pisgah Church Road. Authorities stated that a red SUV and a blue SUV, traveling in opposite directions, collided head-on after the red SUV drifted into the oncoming lane.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. Officials believe the driver of the red SUV was under the influence of alcohol and was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
