Honolulu, HI (June 5, 2025) — A major collision involving a city bus and a pickup truck near Daniel K. Inouye International Airport sent multiple people to the hospital early Wednesday morning.
According to reports, the crash occurred around 5:40 a.m. on the H-1 Freeway. Approximately 30 individuals were on board the city bus at the time of the collision. Honolulu Emergency Medical Services responded swiftly, assessing 20 patients in total. Seventeen individuals were transported by EMS, while three others were taken by American Medical Response teams. Injuries ranged from minor to serious.
The front of the city bus and the bed of the pickup truck sustained significant damage. A major emergency response was launched, including multiple ambulances, field supervisors, and a Mass Casualty Incident vehicle. Honolulu Police Department blocked three lanes near the Airport exit during the investigation, reopening them by 7:37 a.m.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
