Butler, PA (May 7, 2025) – A 77-year-old man was hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by a bicyclist in downtown Butler late Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:21 p.m. on May 5 at the intersection of North Main Street and Locust Street. Authorities reported that three pedestrians were attempting to cross the street when a bicyclist traveling along North Main Street collided with one of them, knocking the 77-year-old man to the ground.
Emergency responders arrived to find the man receiving treatment in the roadway before he was transported to a hospital in Pittsburgh. As of Tuesday morning, the victim was reported to be in serious but stable condition.
The bicyclist, later identified as 57-year-old Lee Hodgins, fled the scene but was identified through nearby surveillance footage. Police located Hodgins at his residence and took him into custody. He now faces charges related to accidents involving serious bodily injury and is being held at Butler County Prison.
