Amherst police say a 37-year-old man from Cheektowaga was driving southbound from Main Street when he crossed into the northbound lanes, lost control of the vehicle, and struck both a utility pole and a tree.
His 40-year-old wife was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Both individuals were transported to Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) with serious, life-threatening injuries. Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene and continue to investigate what led to the crash.
