According to reports, the incident happened around 2:50 a.m. on June 14 on I-94 East near Grand Boulevard. A 29-year-old Ferndale man lost control of his Ford Mustang, which came to a stop blocking the left lane of the freeway. He exited the vehicle and stood near the trunk while talking on the phone.
As he stood there, a 39-year-old Ferndale woman driving a Ford Fusion struck him. The force of the impact threw him across the median wall, landing on the left shoulder of the road.
The injured man was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The woman remained on scene and was uninjured. Authorities noted that neither individual had a valid driver’s license.
