Detroit, MI (June 30, 2025) — A 27-year-old man from St. Clair Shores was killed Saturday night in a two-vehicle crash on westbound Interstate 94 in Detroit.
According to reports, Michigan State Police troopers were dispatched to the scene shortly after 7 p.m. on June 28 near the Gratiot Avenue exit. Investigators say a silver Jeep was traveling in the left lane while a green Jeep was in the center lane when both drivers attempted to change lanes at the same time, causing the vehicles to collide.
The impact forced the silver Jeep into the median wall, causing it to roll over. A passenger in the silver Jeep, a 27-year-old St. Clair Shores man, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and another passenger in that vehicle were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Meanwhile, the green Jeep lost control, veered up the right embankment, and struck a tree. The driver and lone passenger in the green Jeep were not injured.
The freeway remained closed for nearly four hours as troopers worked to reconstruct the accident and clear the debris.
